At Embrace Sanctuary Australia, we believe that welcoming people seeking refuge is more than an act of kindness — it's a powerful catalyst for social change.

We are building a movement of welcome across Australia, empowering individuals, schools and communities to create places of genuine connection, safety and belonging for people from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds.

And we're seeing the difference it makes. Through storytelling, community engagement, education and meaningful partnerships, we're breaking down barriers, challenging misconceptions and inspiring everyday Australians to become agents of welcome and hope.

An opportunity to make a meaningful difference

We are seeking passionate, values-aligned individuals to join our Board as Voluntary Non-Executive Directors.

This is more than a governance role. It's an opportunity to contribute your skills, networks and experience to a growing organisation that is helping transform the way Australians welcome and walk alongside people seeking refuge.

As a Board Director, you'll have the privilege of helping shape our strategic direction, strengthening our impact and contributing to a movement that is creating real and lasting social change.

We're particularly looking for people with experience in:

• Fundraising and philanthropy — building donor relationships, developing fundraising strategies and opening doors to new funding opportunities.

• Grant writing and business development — identifying opportunities, developing compelling proposals and cultivating strategic partnerships.

• Marketing and communications — amplifying our stories, growing our reach and inspiring more Australians to join the movement of welcome.

You don't need to bring expertise in every area. We're looking for people who can contribute meaningfully in one or more of these spaces.

What we're asking

We're seeking people who can commit approximately 2–4 hours per week, bringing both strategic insight and a willingness to roll up their sleeves to help a growing organisation thrive.

You'll work alongside a committed and passionate Board and leadership team, contributing to good governance while actively supporting our growth, sustainability and impact.

Above all, we're looking for people who believe in the dignity of every person, the power of human connection and the possibility of a more welcoming and inclusive Australia.
